As every good elementary school student can tell you, Philadelphia’s history runs deep. From its founding in 1682 by William Penn to the writing and signing of our nation’s Constitution in 1787, history is part of our DNA here in the City of Brotherly Love. In recent memory, we can add February 4, 2018 to our list of important moments. Sports fan or not, the Eagles bringing home a Super Bowl win meant something to generations of Philadelphians.

A conversation I had with a friend the other day really got me thinking. I recently had a falling out with a friend who also happens to be a co-worker of mine. I was discussing the situation that occurred while I was on vacation and my friend (who just got stuck listening to me bitch about my falling out) said something shocking to me.

I woke up this morning to a lovely notification from Facebook that my husband and I have been “friends” for 11 years with a link to our top moments. At first, I laughed because, c’mon, it’s Facebook.

When I was in my Sophomore year of college, I lived in a quad with four other girls. Despite being in our second year of college and knowing that we had literally next to no room for our belongings we still managed to pack in every last item of clothing, dishes, food, toiletries, etc. in to our very very tiny living space.

Clients often ask me how I can visualize what a space can become, how the colors swirl around in my head like Van Gogh’s clouds. Before you know it I’m pushing around imaginary furniture in to its perfect position, call it therapeutic. When I was much younger, I walked up to a women at a makeup counter and asked her how she knew how to do makeup. Her response to me was, “Because I can paint.” At the time I didn’t fully understand what she was saying, but later as my painting skills blossomed, it all started to make sense.
